Overview and Quick Start TutorialNow that you have successfully activated your Value4Ten AutoSubmission Account , you will be able to explore the different aspects of the software. The purpose of this overview is to assist you in understanding how to use Autosubmission Program. The AutoSubmission submission process is project-oriented. This means that for every submission job you set up, whether for a single page or an entire website, you simply create a new project, complete its configuration details, then step through the process of setting up the submission project. The stages you go through for the submission process will be discussed in more depth later on however for now it is important to understand that there are 6 unique steps in setting up a project for submission, whether automatic or manual submission.
Step 1. Completing the configuration for the Project.
You must now complete a few required fields of information :Some search engines around the world, require additional information, before they will accept your submission. These fields will cover all required information. This covers Website information, Personal and business contact information as well as desired attributes for the Project you are setting up.
Configuration Settings
Field 1 Project Name: Here is where you will enter the name that you would like to call your project. It could be the name of a client who owns the website that you are submitting. If the submission project was for your site, you could enter a name that will easily remind you of the details of that website. Please ensure that the project name is one word without any spaces. -
WebSite Information
Field 2 Site URL: Please enter the url / website address of the site you are about to submit for. This would start with a http:// For instance; The domain that you purchased this program from was autosubmission.com So in this field I would type in http://www.autosubmission.com this is the main url of the site being submitted, not the actual url that is submitted, the urls to be submitted are in another section.
Field 3 Keywords: Please enter keywords that represent your business, or that of the business that you are submitting. The keywords you choose should be highly relevant to your desired target audience, and words / phrases you consider might be used by potential clients, looking for products and services that you offer. The market that we are seeking to attract, are Webmasters, or people looking at starting their own Internet business. People who are looking for promotional tools. For example; Words and phrases we might enter into this field could include Submit, Submission Software, webmasters, affiliate resellers, promotion software, how can I promote my website, Web-site submission business opportunities, register my website with the search engines, site submission web promotion software...etc. If you are a Value4Ten subscriber you will have access to our Keyword locator which makes the process of finding relevant keywords easy Field 4 Description: Enter a brief description that describes your site and services; Or the services of the site you are promoting. For example: A description we might use for our site is "Web site promotion has never been so easy. ", "Market your web site with this amazing submission software.", "Start you own online submission service. This software does it all. " Try to get as many of your keywords (see above) as possible into this description. Keep it short though (250 characters or less). Most engines will truncate anything longer! Field 5 Category: This one is relatively self-explanatory. Select the category that BEST suits the site or page that you are submitting. Not ALL engines offer ALL categories and you should be aware that some categories are MUCH more crowded than others. If submitting to FFAs for example, and you select 'business' (the default value) as the category, your ad will roll off the page 10x faster than if you choose 'Computers'
Personal Information
Field 6 Your Name: Please enter your name, or the name of the person that owns the site, that you are submitting. Field 7 Position: Please enter the position held by you, or the person that owns the site, that is being submitted. Field 8 & 9 Your E-mail: Please enter your email address, or the email address of the person who owns the web site you are submitting. The top email address is used to submit to the search engines and FFAs this should be a secondary email account so that your primary account doesn?t get flooded with unwanted email. The lower address is for receiving your submission report.
Submission Options
Field 10 & 11 Automatic Submission and Frequency: This option allows you to set the project on autosubmission and set the frequency of that submission. This is mostly for our PREMIUM members. You will have to submit manually (at end of step 6) if you are a FREE member. Remember that most Search Engines only allow monthly submission or less. This is why you should set up separate projects for the major search engines vs. FFAs and Classifieds etc. where you may submit more often. You can submit daily by setting up 7 cloned projects Field 12 Proxy: This feature is for those Webmasters that have a dedicated server running through a proxy host. Please leave this blank if you are unsure. Field 13 Send Email Confirmation: Click this option, if you would like to receive your submission results via email. This is a good option to tick ?yes?. Whatever email address that you have entered into your email option field, will receive confirmation of all submission results, when the submission process has been completed. - Once you have completed all the fields required just click the NEXT button that is located at the bottom of the configuration page. Your information will be saved and you will move on to step 2..
Step 2. Confirming the configuration for the Project
Once your configuration for a project has been completed you will be shown all your configuration details to ensure that they are all correct, once you are sure that all is correct then press the next button at the bottom of the page and your project's configuration will be saved to your projects directory. You can always go back and make changes later but it is best to do it now -'lest ye forget!'
Step 3. Spidering the domain for urls to submit
Field 1 Spider Logical Structure This section is where you would enter the URL of the web site that you would like to spider. You must enter the full URL of the website, or you may enter an actual URL to a page that you might want to submit. The spider will follow all links found on that page, writing them to your submission database. You can select the type of pages that you would like to submit. Most website use the extentions htm, html or shtml. If you are submitting your own domain just use the full url of the main website (ie. http://www.yourdomain.com), or if you wish to submit a particular page and all associated links on that page enter the URL (address) of that page..
Field 2 Maximal depth of directory. This option allows you to choose how deep you would like to either spider a Website or Crawl you physical domain. If spidering your clients web site you would set this between 1 to 5 levels, this would instruct the spider to follow each link found to the maximun level you have entered.Example: If I was to set this to 3 then the spider would enter the web site being spidered gathering all URL's found on each page by 3 levels. Now say for instance that the URL being spidered had 2 links on the first page the spider would then copy the address of the 2 links then follow them both to the pages associated, on the next to pages say there were another 3 links on each page the spider gathers the URL address on those pages then again follow the 3 links found on each page to the 3rd level. Field 3 Maximal number of pages. Just click on the drop down box and choose the amount of pages you would like to submit.Whether spidering your directory structure or a clients web site the number you choose here will be the maximum urls for submission. The results from your spidering of your domain or page(s) are now presented in a table where you can select or unselect any Urls from your Submission List. Step 5. Editing or adding additional Urls to the submission queue. At this stage you may manually add more URL's or edit any Urls that you need to change. Now that you are happy with the URL's that you have choosen click on the NEXT button at the bottom of the page. Once completing this step and pressing the next button your list of Urls will be written to your submission queue Step 6. Selecting the search engines and FFAs that you wish to submit to. Select The Search Engines For Your Submission In the search engine selection panel just click on the search engine/FFAs/Classifieds that you wish to submit to. It is important to distinguish between search engines and FFA/Classifieds and Message Boards. Most of the major search engines only accept your page URL and then do their own spidering. Usually, you may only submit to these once a month.
Most Classifieds and message boards are weekly, bi-weekly or monthly submissions. It usually won't hurt to submit weekly here. If your listing is still active, the new submission will simply be ignored.
Finally, the FFA networks and individual FFAs can be submitted to daily. You can do this by setting up a new project for seven consecutive days (use the 'clone' project feature) and set the submission frequency to weekly!
Please Note: Most regional engines will only accept submissions from Websites within the relevant regions, as is depicted by the Website Url suffix eg: .com.au .com.uk etc etc. Activate Submission Process Now This option allows you to initiate a manual submission whereby you will see the resulting success or failure of the engines as they accept your submissions, this is handy for ascertaining whether any engines within the database are failing. With some servers that are very busy TIME OUT Errors can happen if this happens to your submission just click back to the engine database and unselect the engine / engines that are failing. Save Configuration For Autosubmission By selecting this option (default) you will just be saving the configuration of the project, and that project will be submitted at the frequency that you have selected along with the autosubmission switch on the program configuration screen. Once your submission is complete you will recieve an email notification, providing you ticked this switch on the project configuration screen, If you are doing extremely large submissions you may choose not to have a results email sent due to the size that the resulting email may be. Once you have selected the search engines you would like to submit to, click on the NEXT button in your browser window. Submission Results After your submission you will recieve a confirmation email which will have the results of your submission, showing both successful submissions as well as unsuccessful ones.
